Why Manny Pacquiao Will Defeat Antonio Margarito (My Real Prediction)

October 17, 2010 By Ja Dawes

Speed kills. For those of you who have been reading my posts for the past four years, you know that my fight predictions are filled with this recurring theme. And boy will Manny Pacquiao (51-3-2, 38 KOs) have a speed advantage next month when he faces the recently-disgraced Antonio Margarito (38-6, 27 KOs) at Cowboys Stadium.

Disregard the long-shot prediction in my previous Margarito-Pacquiao post, you can find my official fight breakdown below.

For Manny Pacquiao’s legion of fans, this late stoppage victory (yes, that’s my official prediction) will be the latest scalp on his mantle. For Antonio Margarito, it will likely signal the end of a career (in big fights at least) that many fans feel never should have been allowed to resume after the hand-wrap controversy.

In the end, ring justice will be served, with Pacquiao’s speedy fists serving as the judge and jury.

You don’t think the height and reach advantage will fill favour Margarito in this fight. I see Manny fighting the Margarito wants. In his face where he can measure him coming in. I think this might be a tough fight for Manny. Though I know his trainer and him will be well prepared with a plan to chop Margarito down. I would not be surprised if we see the unthinkable. Don’t write Margarito off in this fight.

Ok, so we are now down to 2 weeks before the showdown and having seen 2 episodes of 24/7, I think you need to seriously revisit (and possibly rewrite) this post. For the first time (that I can recall), Freddie has made more “excuses” for his boxer than predictions of total annihilation. He’s not focused, not training well and everyone around him is shaking their head in disappointment. For me, the end came when he told Freddie that he “misses his job.” WTF? His job? Oh right, he’s a congressman. Whatever… Someone needs to remind him that there wouldn’t be a congressman without a boxer. Regardless, it looks to me like the only one that is taking the fight seriously is Antonio.
Could this be one giant ruse? I doubt it, when you take time out of your camp to visit Vegas for a campaign stop, you might as well just pack it in. But then again, what a huge mega fight it will be when he comes back…
Now I’m waiting to hear your thoughts.

@Gabriel…I don’t think so. I am thinking that Top Rank and co. are simply trying to sell this fight. The only real attraction is that 1) Margarito is coming off the hand-wrap controversy and 2) of course, Manny Pacquiao against anyone is watchable TV. That stated, Margarito’s biggest asset in this fight is his size. But I honestly think that it’ll only cause him to take more punishment than a smaller man. He’s bested in just about every OTHER major category that determines the outcome of most fights. Speed, skills and defense. War Pacquiao.

Even without seeing the 24/7 show I liked Margarito’s chances. I heard Pacquiao is very involved in Phillapino politics now. You just can’t become a part time boxer and expect to dominate the world the way he used to. I don’t like his focus. The scarry thing for Manny is that Margarito has something to prove. Sort of like Ladaian Tomlison of the New York Jets, coming into this year, everyone wrote him off. Now he is looking at an MVP season. This is no the fight Manny wanted. I think he is instore for a ruide awakening. I like those 5:1 odds.

@Jeff To quote Public Enemy, “Don’t Believe the Hype!” Margarito will serve as a willing punching bag.

@Ja Dawson: you hit it right on the nose with this one Ja, of course this an attempt at selling more seats and pay per views, however, that fact doesn’t make me waver in this least bit in my prediction that Margarito Will Win this Fight. Now when Manny loses, his camp will certainly elude to the “lack of focus” and “his missing his job” but let’s be intelligent here, even if these were legitimate concerns does anyone out there Really believe they would make it public information on 24/7? I think not or there would be some unemployed corner personnel out there. No, the cheater will for all the reasons I’ve indicated in my previous comments.

your probably right Ja. Then again. You have lost all credability with me with that Malanaggi Khan predicition. It was not even remotly close.lol

I guess you just don’t think Margarito has the skills to be Pacqauio. The guy destroyed Cotto. Cmon. He’s got skills. I just Pacquaio is pressing his luck.

Margarito Mayweather is next! Can’t wait.

@Jeff Even Ja can be wrong fella! haha Skills pay the bill$…look forward to Mayweather-Pacquiao in 2011…

@jabbo: that’s the way to hang in there! 🙂 On 11/14, please write back regardless of the outcome. 😉 You always do though…respect.

What makes Manny so great? How was Erik Morales able to expose him like no fighter has done since? Alot of the credit I guess has to go to Freddy Roach. He seems to have evolved. Do you catch that peace on him from 60 Minutes today. He has quite the story.

Will the heavier Puncher Davies defeat Hall?

  14. Ja Dawson says

    November 8, 2010 at 9:32 pm

What makes Manny great is destroying that same Morales twice, obliterating an anorexic De La Hoya, starching rugged David Diaze and usually-rugged, Ricky Hatton, annihilating Marco Antonio Barrera 2x, defeating the great Juan Manuel Marquez, and laying a beatdown on Miguel Cotto. I agree that Roach has helped, but that’s a resume for the ages.

margarito wins if he can hit manny w/ a straight punch on the front left cheek right below his eye,b-coz im 100% thats manny’s weakness,i’ve seen that happened b- 4 against nadel haussen…..i hope margaritos camp can read this…

  17. jabbo says

    November 11, 2010 at 4:02 pm

@Ja Dawson:that resume’ is impressive until you put it in perspective as it is relevant to this fight. What true welter-weight has manny beat that wasn’t already “damaged goods”? no one can question Manny’s abilities as far as his skills are concerned but take away the clottey who was “scared —–less and just didn’t want to get hit”, where has Manny proven that he even belongs in this division? This is the fight Manny needs to make a believer of me. It didn’t take a genious to steer Manny through the silohuettes that he’s beat in the welter-weight division so far, those were hand-picked opponents(and very nicely picked I must say). come on November, 13th!

@Ja Definitely Manny Pacquiao will knockout Margarito via late stoppage.

  19. Ja Dawson says

    November 11, 2010 at 8:26 pm

@david That’s exactly how I see it. What round do you see it happening?

  20. Ja Dawson says

    November 11, 2010 at 8:31 pm

@jabbo You make some good points, in that Pacquiao has not defeated a top-flight, in-prime welterweight. And that will not be the case here either. He’s fighting a disgraced (highly-likely) cheater, who’s past his prime, got KOd’ in his most recent superfight (by Mosley), and looked awful in his last fight in Mexico against a nobody. That stated, Pacquiao by KO….late.

  21. david says

    November 12, 2010 at 3:32 pm

@Ja in between rounds 9-11. What group of rounds do you think ja?

  22. Ja Dawson says

    November 12, 2010 at 6:41 pm

@david…that’s exactly how i see it. perhaps by round 9.

  23. joenotaplumber says

    November 13, 2010 at 9:57 am

    WRONG.

    Margarito will win.
Remember Margo throws more punches than Manny.

  24. Jeff says

    November 13, 2010 at 11:33 pm

well you were right again. I did not believe the hype as you suggested. What a demolishment. It was almost as if Anontio did not train for the fight, failing to win even a single round. I was pretty surprised how innofective he was. You would think the bigger man would be able to break through and use his size on the smaller oppenent. HE accomplished next to nothing. If Mayweather is not next. There really is no reason for Manny to continue fighting. How about that David Haye. Sorry to change the subject. That fight was an even bigger joke.

  25. Ja Dawson says

    November 14, 2010 at 2:08 am

@Jeff Yes, it was pure batting practice…and I hate to say this, it appeared as if Margarito’s face was battered by loaded gloves. I think it may have been a form of fistic karma doled out by the boxing gods.

Congrats on the prediction man. You were totally right.

  27. Ja Dawson says

    November 14, 2010 at 12:12 pm

@boksen Thanks, but this was not that difficult of a prediction for me. Margarito had done nothing to deserve this “shot,” and it showed.

What about all those clips of Maragrito Chopping Wood in the pre fight build up?
I was convinced he was going to win. lol
