We all wanted to see Floyd Mayweather face off against Manny Pacquiao on May 5th ("Cinco de Mayo"). But it’s obvious that we’re all playing Charlie Brown to Lucy, and keep falling for the bait and switch.
As of this post, I am going Brokeback Mountain and exclaiming, "I quit you," in regards to Mayweather and Pacquiao, until otherwise noted.
That brings us to Floyd Mayweather (42-0, 26 KO) vs. Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30 KO). In my humble opinion, it’s a fight taking place about five years too late. But beggars can’t be choosers, right?
I’ll take it, for now. It is damn sure more exciting than the upcoming (June 9) "non-superfight" between Manny Pacquiao (54-3-2, 38 KO) and the light-punching Timothy Bradley (28-0, 12 KO).
I’m interested in hearing what you think. Please share your thoughts.
(Check back in a few weeks for my official Mayweather-Cotto prediction).
