Wladimir Klitschko Will Be Too Big And Too Strong For David Haye

June 9, 2011 By Ja Dawes

Wladimir "Dr. Steelhammer" Klitschko (55-3, 49 KO’s) is too big, too strong but (not) too fast for David "the Hayemaker" Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s). Two out of three key factors ain’t too bad though!

Klitschko’s sizable (pun intended) advantages will overshadow whatever "the Hayemaker" brings to the ring on July 2.

Take a gander below at the detailed fight breakdown based on the boxing predictor at the bottom of this post.

At 6’7" inches tall, with an 81" reach and routinely weighing anywhere between 245-250 pounds, "Dr. Steelhammer" is one helluva mountain to climb for any opponent.

But he’s not just a big man, he’s a skilled man. A man who will be far more skilled than anyone that Haye has ever seen in his career.

David Haye will probably be the fastest man that Klitschko has faced in the ring. He will be one of the hardest-hitting ones as well. Like Klitschko however, his Achilles heal is his porcelain chin (but even more so here, since he’s the smaller guy).

A boxing sage once said that "a good big man will beat a good little man any time of the day." Well, July 2 will be one of those times and one of those days. Look for Wladimir Klitschko to stop David Haye by about round eight, continuing the Klitschko sibling reign at heavyweight.

JD! Can’t wait for this bout…have tickets & will be travelling to Hamburg for this one. I have a feeling Haye will upset the giant! Keeping outside of range of Klitchko’s jab and timing the power shots will be the key, in my humble opinion ofcourse! Once he buzzes Klitchko with a few shots…he will be all over him like a rash.

I hope you bought tickets off of my site! 🙂 Enjoy that one man-I am sure the atmosphere will be off-the-hook! Gutsy call by you as well; I think Haye may annoy and pester him for the early rounds, but we’ll see if he can hurt him. It’s just so hard to get inside Klitschko’s jab.

Like everyone else, can’t wait for this showdown, What makes this fight so attractive is not only the strenghs of both guys but the weaknesses.
Both have huge question marks over their chins
Both have stamnia issues, i know Klitchko had gone 12rds three times, but i think he will be fighting on high adrenaline on July 2nd which will have him burning fual like the space shuttle.
    Both Defences are poor.

If you put a gun to my head i would have to go with Kiltchko, but Haye has a massive chance, if he lands big first, it’s all over, Hayes a great finisher, but also his movement and speed will be a big problem .
Klitchko will rely on the jab, right hand and hold, and that could well be enough.

Thanks for entering the comment fray Ybsteam, but are you totally confident that Haye’s power will be comparable to when he was a cruiserweight?

You know what, J.D, as far as Dr Steelhammer is concerned i’m in no doubt he has the power to take him out, IF he lands, the flip side is if Wlad lands the same thing can happen.

P.S. What do you think of Mayweather’s choice of Ortiz as next opponnet.

True indeed…Yb, I don’t like Mayweather’s choice of opponent, but I do not equally like Pacquiao’s recent choices either (pretty much all men that Mayweather has recently whitewashed, sans Margarito, who was destroyed most recently by Mosley). I just hope that they both meet next spring (fingers crossed).

Your telling me this not going to start a new era in boxing. David Haye knocked out Vitali and becomes new Lennox Lewis of the sport. Isn’t Haye the chosen one? I have been tell all my friends they have to come over Saturday afternoon to watch this one. This is going to shock the world. You’ll see. No? Another boring Klitschko domination of the next pretenteder? I hope not. We need to something great. If Haye can’t do it. Vitali Klitchko you could make the arguement should go down as one the greatest heavyweights of all time. He’s beat everyone. Knowone is even in the fight againt him.

@Jeff – I agree with you that it’d be nice to see things shaken up a bit. But the Klitschkos are just too good for the current batch of heavyweights. Some of it is due to their excellence but some is due to their tepid competition (through no fault of their own). I just hope Haye last more than 6 rounds-which he should, as neither Klitschko typically gets their men outta there all that early.

“A good big guy will beat a good small guy any time of day”? What about Pacquiao VS Margarito? Margarito is a good boxer (tough as anything) and the bigger guy and Pacquiao ran rings around him.

LOL. Haye said he was in the best shape of his life and vowed to send the younger Klitschko brother to hospital in their bout in Hamburg’s soccer stadium.

I can’t wait to see the execution of one of them

@Jeff I don’t see that happening this weekend though…the Klitschko execution that is…but Wladimir’s chin can be willing (to fail), so it’s not beyond the realm of possibility, but it’s not my prediction.

@Snazzlefox, you are right. But don’t discount that speed does kill. I just think Haye’s weaknesses (chin and defense) are not enough to overcome the size deficit even though he has the quicker hands.

It’s almost here, could we be about to usher in a new chapter in heavyweight boxing,
I have loved all the trash talk, the HBO face off was classic,
the fight has so many if’s and buts, which is one of the things that make this so exciting, i’m sticking with Klitschko by late rd stoppage,
so much depends on the first three rds, can the Dr find his jab?
Will Haye just jump all over him and end it quick?.
another thing to remember is the Doc has been ko’d three times, a fact i think that could make him very cautious, if he is then Haye will have a big advantage, the stakes are so high, after all the crap Haye has come out with, what happens if he gets sparked.

@Ybsteam I totally agree with your Klitschko by late TKO prediction! Should be fun!
