Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor (27-2-1, 1
7 KOs) and Jeff "Left Hook" Lacy (24-1, 17 KOs) need not listen to Bones-Thugs-N-Harmony to realize they are meeting at the crossroads this Saturday in their super middleweight tussle. Taylor is coming off of consecutive losses to Kelly Pavlik while Lacy is on a three-fight winning streak.
If their recent streaks are any indication, it would appear that Taylor is headed south while Lacy is headed north. However, streaks can be deceiving. Taylor’s two losses against Kelly Pavlik count for much more than Lacy’s three consecutive wins against the unholy trinity of Vitali Tsypko, Peter Manfredo, Jr., and Epifanio Mendoza.
Huge Competitive Advantage
Despite Taylor’s technical flaws, no one can discount his level of competition. He’s held his own with a "who’s-who" of middleweight contenders, from future Hall of Famers Bernard Hopkins (two victories) and Winky Wright (draw) to former undisputed world champions Cory Spinks (victory) and Kelly Pavlik (two losses). Lacy’s highest level of competition was Joe Calzaghe. And we all know how he failed that test…miserably.
On Saturday, November 15, look for Jermain Taylor to get back on the winning track against Jeff Lacy. Sometimes who you (Taylor) lose to is more important than who you beat (Lacy).
Jermain Taylor by Unanimous Decision over Jeff Lacy
I could not agree more. Lacy looked really bad in his last fight, somewhat of a shot fighter. Taylor should win a comfortable decision.
I am somewhat amazed that many people are writing Taylor off, he is good fighter and should still have some good years left……..
“Neal,” it does not shock me in the least that folks are writing Taylor off. Although I state that he has fought many good fighters and competed, he’s also struggled in large spots against all of them (can you name his most impressive performance as a pro, perhaps his draw with Winky…that says a lot). That being said, the guess here is that he has way more to offer than Lacy at this point. However, he better be wary of Lacy’s power…”Left Hook” still has that.
Gosh Ja why not predict something more difficult.
I got Bundrage to upset. How about you?
What’s difficult about picking Bundrage to defeat Grady Brewer?!?!? That ain’t no upset (lol). But, I guess you are being sarcastic.
Well, there is nothing difficult about picking Bundrage to win, its being correct that is difficult…
So, I guess you and I were wrong, heh? LOL Nonetheless, that fight is not what I would call a major tussle in the grand scheme of things; hence why it was not covered here. Maybe you can start a blog covering all of the underground fight predictions? 🙂
