From what I heard on Twitter, my post headline is not much of a statement for those who covered or watched the fight. As you can deduce from my words, I did not watch this fight. The reasons are many.
For starters, the fight was not pay-per-view-worthy. Judging by the outcome and crowd response, it was not even ESPN Friday Night Fights-worthy. And I say that with all due respect to ESPN’s weekly fight series, which is a great value for the dollar.
Secondly, if the aforementioned fight series is considered "of great value," Mosley vs Mora had to be one of the worst ways that you could spend $50 dollars. No one should have to pay that kind of money just to boo a boxing match.
And lastly, Shane Mosley (46-6, 39 KOs) just ain’t what he used to be. Coming off his one-sided loss at the hands of Floyd Mayweather last year, his highly-disappointing draw with fringe Contender Sergio Mora (21-1-2, 6 KOs) does nothing to dispel my beliefs about him leading up to the fight.
Check out these quotable Tweets from this past Saturday’s snooze-fest:
- Boxing360 Dear HBO please euthanize Mora from your network!
- Shane Mosley and Sergio Mora Battle To an Ugly Draw http://bit.ly/9MCLh7.
- BoricuaBoxing @Gabriel_Montoya: Just got a text from John Ruiz: "Boy this sure is a boring fight. Why are they clinching so much?"
- Gabriel_Montoya Is it wrong to say "One guy can’t pull the trigger and the other guy has a reluctant pea shooter?"
- stevemaxboxing OK, thru 2, best thing I can say about Mosley-Mora is: well, the undercard was pretty entertaining!
I’ll holler at y’all next week with a far less critical post. At least, that’s the hope.

I guess this post wasn’t “Re-Tweet-worthy,” heh? 🙂
