Gennady Golovkin vs. Martin Murray Prediction

February 2, 2015 By Ja Dawes

When it comes to the Gennady "GGG" Golovkin vs. Martin Murray Fight Prediction, I will hold myself to a higher standard. I will only give myself credit if I make an exact predicition since "GGG" is a prohibitive favorite in this fight. gennady-golovkin-martin-murray-fight

For purposes here, the criteria for an exact prediction are:

  • For a decision prediction, I must clearly denote whether it's a majority decision (MD), split decision (SD) or unanimous decision (UD).
  • For a knockout prediction, I must clearly denote if it's a stoppage via a ten-count/"knocking the opponent out cold (KO)", technical knockout (TKO) via the three-knockdown rule/"referee rules fighter unfit to continue," or a stoppage due to cuts or corner stoppage.
  • All draws are exact predicitions.

With one of the highest knockout rates in boxing, Golovkin is expected to defeat the always-game Murray within the 12-round limit. However, Murray has never been knocked out or stopped. In fact, according to BoxRec, he's never been down in a fight.

Something has got to give!

For Golovkin, Murray will probably be the best boxer that he has faced in his career. And I think Murray may give him some early problems with his activity and movement. But eventually, Golovkin's precision punching and relentless pressure will ruin Murray's day.

My exact prediction is: Gennady "GGG" Golovkin defeats Martin Murray by way of technical knockout (the ref stops the fight in the middle/late rounds) later this month.
