Yes, Pacquiao-Margarito will eventually find a home, if it’s the last thing that Top Rank capo Bob Arum does this year.
But doesn’t it make you grin a sheepish grin, knowing that Antonio "plaster of Paris" Margarito is being made to sweat before he finds out whether he will ever earn another penny for his punches? If you think I’m cruel, you shouldn’t. Any man who has committed the "fistic" crime of loading one’s gloves (hand wraps to be exact), knowingly or unknowingly (yeah right!), is lucky to be walking the streets.
Many say that it’s unfair to retroactively accuse of Margarito of cheating in his fights prior to the hardened substance being found in his gloves before the Shane Mosley beat-down. I say that if you get caught red-handed, it simply means that you were slippery enough to escape in the past. No one said I’d make a good judge in a court of law. I am just calling it as I see it.
And I am not alone in my "critical" thinking on the matter.
In a sport that is often soul-less, boxing commissions have seemingly found God. Top Rank Promotions and Margarito’s handlers were recently California (commission) dreaming for a fight, but my friends on the "Wesside" were not buying it. And that’s saying a lot for a state in such economic straits.
Eventually some commission will succumb to the lure of the economic boon that a Pacquiao-Margarito fight would bring. But until that time, boxing’s soul is shining, and for that, I am content.

Hey Ja, off topic of your posting above (as usual!) but was hoping you would lay out your case for the Calderon v Segura unification fight this weekend…..do you fancy the boxer or puncher in this one?
Ja Dawson says
Bob, I (almost) always go with the boxer. That being said, I’m going with Calderon here.

gotta agree here with you Ja, it shouldn’t happen and if anyone out there don’t think it’s fair they should refer to the HBO special “assault in the ring”. it has been historically noted that a man who is willing to jeopardize another fighter’s life by lacing his gloves either goes to jail or is banned from boxing and sometimes both. That being said however, this will be a huge fight and without a doubt will find a home. i have to selfishly say that I’d love to see this fight and as you know I have picked the plaster-man to win it. I believe this will be the first true welter weight that little pac man has faced (not including the aldredy “spent”oscar delahoya)and id i believe this could be the fight that sends in politics full time.@Ja Dawson:

Ja, I am with you Segura punches wide and wild. Calderon wont be fighting a fight plan he hasnt fought all his career! So I also see him avoiding the bombs and picking off the puncher Segura. Guess the intrigue is Calderon was dropped by a lesser opponent in his last fight…

@jabbo Margarito, plaster free, will play punching bag to Pacquiao’s welter-weight sized fists. But I like your historical reference to the Resto assualt case. This fight sickens me but I expect Margarito (who looked AWFUL in his last fight in Mexico) to get his butt handed to him.

@Bob, and that is why they fight the fights. 🙂
Pacquiao vs Margarito says
Manny vs Antonio this is a great challenge for the both of them. Both are at the peaks of their career. Antonio is good, but Manny has already proven that he is unbeatable, fearless, skillful and a great giant killer. Antonio is the last great Mexican world champion standing. When Manny beats Margarito like other great Mexican champions, he will be considered the best in the world. With this fight there is no question that Manny will shatter Oscars vs Floyd’s record ppv of 2.44 million. Its time to shock the world again. I would think that Pacquiao would take early rounds with his speed and proven ability to get inside bigger men with footwork and head movement. However Pacquiao has been hurt by fighters with far less power than Margarito like Juan Manuel Marquez and eventually Manny would slow down or Antonio would catch him and overwhelm the smaller man. I haven’t seen margarito fights but If he’s that good. I don’t think pacman will back down a fight against margarito. Pacquiao is the kind of fighter who likes to fight stronger opponents. He likes to be the underdog. Just like when he first fought barrera when he (barrera) was on his prime (2003).The challenge like this will make pacman more excited more motivated to train harder to become the best boxer that he can be.
