Since his concussive loss at the hands of rising flyweight star Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire, Vic "Raging Bull" (31-1, 25 KOs) Darchinyan has moved up in weight and seemingly in skill. The increase in skill is what is going to make his Saturday showdown with Jorge "Travieso" (51-4, 39 KOs) Arce a potential wipeout in his favor.
Styles make fights and this one has the clear makings of a backroom brawl. One, both Darchinyan and Arce are great punchers. Two, both fighters have been stopped before. And last but not least, they both appear to not like each other very much. These are the ingredients of a fight that will not last more than six rounds.
Who do I give the edge? The man (Darchinyan) who destroyed the excellent boxer Christian Mijares (W TKO 9) not than man (Arce) who got dominated by him (L UD 12). I know that it is a dangerous proposition to assume that fighter A (Darchinyan) can defeat fighter B (Arce), simply because fighter A defeated fighter C (Mijares) and fighter B did not. But defeating a talented boxer like Mijares is no small feat, and Darchinyan deserves "mucho props" for that victory.
I just bombed you with a lot of letters, but the real bombs will be dropped by Darchinyan this Saturday, and the letters will spell TKO (Darchinyan in six over Arce).

I made it to the fan friendly “workout” today and was very much impressed with Darchinyan. A truly nice guy with great speed and (yes, I know the bag doesn’t hit back) enough power to put a serious hurt on Arce. Still, this is Arce’s hometown (at least it will feel that way on Saturday), so maybe that will light a fire under him to put his money where his mouth is.
At the end of the day, I thank Showtime for putting this fight on for free!

Pretty cool that you got to see him live; I guess the little guy does pack a whallop. And I don’t think Arce will be able to stand up to it.

Definitely a tough fight for Arce, but I do believe he pull an upset….via KO! I don’t buy into Darchinyan’s evolution as a boxer puncher, Arce has some devastating power of his own which should get through Darchinyan’s shady defense

I hear you but do not agree with you. Vic is awkward and can be hit, but he’s proven to have a decent beard (the Donaire shocker aside). I think Arce’s aggressive style is made-to-order for Darchinyan.

I’m leaning towards Darchinyan in this fight. His recent resume is obviously more impressive(other than the Donaire loss). He also hits more like a full blown Bantamweight. People also forget that Darchinyan ,ay have been a little tentative in the Donaire loss due to his previous bout with Victor Burgos where unfortunetly Burgos suffered life threatning injuries.
After a couple of feel out rounds Darchinyan starts to land some big bombs around rounds 4-6 and in the Sixth his conerman will throw in the towel to save the brave but battered Arce.
