Pacquiao To “Pac” Wallop Vs. Marquez In Rematch

March 11, 2008 By Ja Dawes

10 Reasons Why Manny Pacquiao Will Beat Juan Manuel Marquez:

#10 Rafael Marquez. Honestly, it’s just a hunch. His brother just lost to Israel Vazquez two weeks ago; maybe it’s just a bad time to be a fighting Marquez?

#9 Chris John. Something tells me that Pacquiao’s savvy trainer Freddy Roach will be borrowing whatever he can from Chris John’s surprisingly easy victory over Marquez two years ago.

#8 Age. At a prime 29 years of age, I think Pacquiao has more gas left in the tank than the 34-year old Marquez.

#7 Competition. Since their first bout nearly four years ago, Pac-Man has knocked out Erik Morales (48-6) twice, dominated Marco Antonio Barrera (63-5), and knocked out Oscar Larios (60-6). Not a bad resume.

#6 Location. You’d think Las Vegas would be a clear home-field advantage for Marquez.  He’ll have his fans, no doubt, but Pac-Man’s rabid Filipino fans do use their frequent flyer miles.  They’ll be there, and they will be loud.

#5 Style. Lately, there appears a definite bias towards fighters who press the action, even if they are not as effective as they may appear.  If this fight goes the distance, Pacquiao should be in good shape.

#4 Chin. Not that Marquez has a bad one, but Pacquiao knows he can drop him, and drop him more than once.

#3 Speed. Although Marquez is a very quick counter-puncher, Pacquiao has freakish speed for someone who punches so hard.

#2 Power. The power ratio is always in Pacquiao’s favor in this weight class (Edwin Valero aside). It will be the difference here, as I expect Pac-Man to knock out Marquez late.

#1 Me. I’m not one to brag but I have a 5-1 record in boxing predictions this year, so I am probably right! 🙂

Good analysis their Ja Dawson, but my heart is with Marquez. He did knock out Morales twice, but an old Morales. Similarly, he dominated an old Barerra. I have seen PacMans weakness, shown in the first Morales fight and the one with Jorge Solis. I understand that Pac Man is not the same fighter, he has improved dramatically. Yet, Marquez is a very skilled boxer, i just hope that is enough to take down Pac Man.

You are indeed entitled to your opinion, but answer me this Snifer, who do you think has more left in the tank and has improved the most since the first tussle? I can understand where you are coming from, but I just don’t see it. If I am wrong, I will own up, but you know I have had a penchant for being right lately! 😉

I admire your “modesty” regarding your pics lately, but I think if Manny Pacquio doesn’t dispose of Juan Manuel early he is going to get over anxious and make a mistake. Trust me all he can think about is that he knocked this man down 3 times in their first outing and he couldn’t beat him. it is going to be interesting!!

i have to agree with your 10 list.. JMM is one great fighter, but lets face it, presently, the pacman will just dominate him in this fight. well unless pacquiao thinks he is invincible and makes a mistake and underestimates JMM so-called BOXING skills…

still 99% for pacquiao and 1% for JMM

    correction:

    make it a 100% pacquiao ….

Felipe, glad you agree with my ten reasons; FantasyBookBlogger, I respectfully disagree with you here. To me, even if Pac-Man doesn’t blow him away early, I still think he can win a solid decision.

Yes, 100% your analysis is true. Finally Pac man won the battle. However it is a question mark for me, why Pac Man so afraid to fight Chris John? Pac Man has power but Chris has brain, endurance and speed. It is a great battle if they could meet soon before getting older.

Like many fighters today, Pac-Man is simply trying to maximizing how much money he earns at this point of his career, rather than fight guys like Chris John, who will provide less financial reward than a bigger American or Mexican “name” at lightweight. Pac has fought Barerra (twice), Morales (thrice), and Marquez (twice). I doubt he is scared of any fighter.

MANNY PACQUIAO , THE ” L O R D ” WILL ALWAYS BE YOU. NO ONE IN THE EXISTENCE OF THE PHILIPPINES HAS EMERGE SUCH TREMEMENDOUS POWER AND DETERMINATION SUCH AS YOURS ,YOUR AN I D O L OF ALL IDOL.

Armando, not sure if God cares about wins and losses in sports at all. But He has indeed blessed Manny P. with some unbelievable physical attributes, which Manny has surely cultivated and refined. And for that, all boxing fans should be thankful.

I suggest edwin valero to fight juan manuel marquez first and afterwards pacquiao. If edwin valero wins over juan manuel marquez and pacquiao and his the guy to fight chris john. While marquez is still strong and energetic, let him try edwin valero.

Butch, that would be a great series of fights. However, I wonder where the Valero fight would take place, since he can’t fight in the States (as of yet). I guess it could take place in Mexico (not sure if the medical ban on Valero touches Mexico). I would LOVE to see a Pacquiao-Valero fight. Two problems though: 1) the medical ban issue and 2) Pacquiao is moving up to lightweight.

If Valero fought Marquez, I’d have to go with Marquez by mid-to-late round stoppage, but there is a GREAT chance for Valero to KO him within four rounds.

ja dawson it was a dam good fight but marquez won, he controlled the championship rounds he was controlling the third untill the knock down, the judges did not score the fight right round by round they showed the recap of the fight on hbo jim lampley and larry merchant would clearly pick a winner of the round but atleast one judge or two would go the other way, marquez did the most damage in fight, marquez’s cut clearly a head butt, marquez straight punch, nevertheless this was a great light weight boxing era and its a shame its coming to an end, marquez won the fight

Juan Manuel Marquez was robbed. Manny Pacquiao did not deserve that decision.
