This April 29th matchup pits "youthful exuberance" against "veteran guile." The younger Juan "Baby Bull" Diaz will live up to his moniker, as he will chase and attempt to pummel the madator Freitas. Diaz’s volume punching is exactly what is required to fight the awkward, spastic style that Freitas brings to the table. Of the two, Freitas has more "pop" on his punches and has faced far better competition, but it’s been awhile since he’s committed to testing his "concussive powers" in a big fight.
This disturbing trend (see his fights with Casamayor, Corrales and Zahir Raheem) of "skittish counter-punching" will ultimately lead to his undoing against the bullheaded Diaz, who wins fights by imposing his fighting energy, spirit, and will on his opponents.
PREDICTION: The younger, fresher, and more importantly, the more confident Diaz will win a competitive, clear-cut 12 round decision over Acelino Freitas, further staking his claim to superiority in the 135-pound division.
